How to speed up your success!

How to speed up your success rate

I could sit here telling you that you should listen to me because of how successful I am, how I have X amount of dollars, stayed on the honor roll throughout college, gained a certain amount of followers, was promoted within my company – but the truth is, every person’s version of success is different. What I might consider success could be nothing to you. The point is, you must determine what you want and just go for it. Sometimes success feels like a distant and unrealistic when you're in rough times. Here are some steps you can take to feel confident in your impending success and allow it to happen as fast as possible.

  1. Determine exactly what success means to you specifically. What would have to happen to make you feel successful? What achievements or possessions would you attribute to being a success?
  2. Set SMART goals – when you write out your goals you need to make sure they are: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-oriented. This helps you get a really clear vision and ensures you have a way to figure out when you've hit your goals or when you're getting close.
  3. Daily written affirmations – One trick to speed up success and reach your goals is to write out your goals and affirmations every day. Write out your desired outcome; the purpose of achieving this goal; and put a plan in place. Most importantly, stay positive when doing this exercise and
  4. Observe your surroundings – always be on the look-out for opportunities that may launch you toward your goal. You never know who you might meet that has a connection or a bit of information that you can use to your advantage on your path to success.
  5. Don’t take the easy route or path of least resistance. There are no shortcuts to success. Just stay focused and work hard every single day to accomplish something and before you know it, you will reach your goals.
  6. Ask “what can I learn from this person or situation” –  It is easy to differentiate those who are successful from others who aren't just by observing their actions and mannerisms during every day tasks, but especially during the hard times.Use them as an example of what to or not to do.
  7. Don’t fear failure – every failure is just a falter w/ the opportunity to learn. Always be open to learning new things, even at the risk of messing up. You can always recover, how gracefully is up to you.
  8. Create a mastermind group or support system – this allows you to bounce ideas off of other like minded individuals. The people in your mastermind should inspire you as well as hold you accountable. When you are doing the same for them, everyone gets more done!
  9. Create a consistent routine. The more decisions you have to make through out the day, the more chances you have to get distracted from your main focus. Cut out half of your decision-making by creating an efficient routine and sticking to it. This may take some time and effort, but it is totally worth it!
  10. Review your progress on certain dates and acknowledge milestones. Once you review where you are at with your goals, compare it to your SMART goals. (This is where the "measurable" part comes in.) Are you where you wanted to be by this time? Do a mental check-in every few weeks or months to see if you're on track. You can always update and tailor your goals to the changes that come with life.
I wanted to close this blog post with a reminder to not be too hard on yourself. Don't beat yourself up if you don't reach that goal. Be flexible and always reward yourself for what you do accomplish. We are all human, after all. Alright, now go out there and tackle your goals!

Black Friday/Cyber Monday Deals Online

Since Today is Black Friday, I figured I'd make a post about how I go about saving money and getting really great deals during this time of year.

First of all, I don't go stand in line for hours on Black Friday. Of course, if you're into that type of thing, just check out any stores website to see what deals they will be having and to double check their policies for said deals. BUT! If you're like me and do most of your shopping online, hopefully these tips will help:

1. Get cash back for all of your online purchases!
If you're going to shop online at all you should try to use a third party website that will track your purchases and give you cash back for them. It sounds a bit taunting at first, but just reassure yourself - these 3rd party sites are are only tracking your purchases to collect data and improve your shopping experience in the long run.
  • My favorite site to use to get cash back is Ebates. This is a double-wammy because you not only get cash back for your purchases, but you can also access hundreds of coupon codes for discounts, free shipping, and even free samples. I wrote a post about this one back in August. I just can't stop:
  • Ebates Coupons and Cash Back
  • You can also get cash back through "GPT" sites like InboxDollars. You can earn money a lot of other ways on this website also, but one option is through shopping online.
  • Also, check your personal banking website to see if they offer a similar service. I know that Bank of America offers cash back for certain online purchases through their BankAmeriDeals program.

2. Comparison shop!
The process of finding the best deal doesn't have to be strenuous. I always check at least 3 top retailers for the product that I want before deciding. If you don't want to go to each individual site, you can check out a site like bizrate that will comparison shop for you. Just search for the item you want and bizrate will search for the best deal. You can also find product reviews on this site.

3. Use a "deals database" site
My final (and perhaps most useful) tip for Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings is to find a website that does all the footwork for you. During this stressful time of year, take shortcuts when you can. There are plenty of websites that search the internet high and low for excellent deals and compile them all in one place.

  • My favorite site to use during this time of year is Raining Hot Coupons! The site is full of fresh posts about deals going on everywhere online and in stores... and it's constantly updated. This amazing site is run by a sweet girl named Sarah. She gives away hundreds of amazon gift cards each year on Thanksgiving weekend. It is so fun to try and find the hidden code before anyone else.
  • Another great site for this is Hip2save! Once again, you can find deals from all over in one place on this website. Let Collin and her team do all the work finding all the deals and hidden gems, but still reap the benefits!

Alright, So those are my 3 top tips for saving during Black Friday/Cyber Monday. Let me know in the comments if you've scored any really awesome deals this season.

The Smell Goods

Welcome to my box of smell goods
I love candles, incense, oils, waxes, infusers, air fresheners... all of it. I have so many different scents that I can't possibly use them all at once. So when they are not in use, I keep them in this little box. It is a nice way to store things that are not "in season" or that you simply don't want to smell at the moment.

Just recently I swapped out my summer scents for ones that are more fitting for fall and winter. I put away my "Caribbean Escape" candle and pulled out the "Leaves" scented candle. (Leaves is my favorite fall scent from Bath and Body works). I also have my Vanilla Bean Noel and Winter Candy Apple candles on standby just waiting for December, which is right around the corner.

I also like to make my own candles and tarts to melt. Just last weekend I made a whole batch of tarts that are Vanilla Mint scented. I already had to test them out in my wax burner and they smell great. It gets me really excited for the winter holidays.

Do you like to switch out your scents as the seasons change or do you just stick to your favorites all year round? Let me know what some of your favorite scents are in the comments below!
